Collaborative Divorce

I work as a Divorce Coach, Co-Parenting Coach and Child Specialist within the Collaborative Model of Divorce. Collaborative Divorce, or Collaborative Practice as it is sometimes called is a peaceful alternative to traditional divorce and litigation. Collaborative Divorce is divorce without going to court, where you maintain control of the process and its outcome rather than having a judge make decisions for you.

Divorce is more than a legal process. It also involves dealing with strong emotions, the importance of effective communication patterns and strategies to resolve disputes amicably, the need to reduce trauma to the children and the importance of a fair and equitable financial settlement.

Collaborative divorce involves a team of experts in each of these areas who work with you and for you (and your children) thereby streamlining the process at a cost that is often half of what the typical litigated divorce costs. Collaborative divorce utilizes two attorneys (one for each member of the divorcing couple), either one or two mental health professionals, a neutral financial professional and a neutral child specialist.

All of these professionals collaborate and talk with each other and with you (often in group meetings) thereby helping the divorcing couple to craft equitable durable agreements. Collaborative Divorce emphasizes the values of honesty, integrity, transparency, respect and fairness.
